Chain Bridge, Budapest

The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the River Danube between Buda and Pest, the western and eastern sides of Budapest. It was designed by English engineer William Tierney Clark and was the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Hungary. It opened in 1849. Thanks to Ágnes.

The Tyne at night from Newcastle side showing Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Tyne Bridge ans Swing Bridge. Newcastle is a city in Tyne and Wear, North East England. It is 166 km south of Edinburgh and 446 north of London. The city developed around the Roman settlement Pons Aelius and was named after the castle built in 1080 by Robert Curthouse, William the Conqueror’s eldest son. Thanks to Frida.

Putna Monastery, Romania

The Putna Monastery is a Romanian Orthodox monastery. It was built and dedicated by Prince Stephen the Great. The monastery houses the tombs of Stephen and several family members. Construction began in 1466. Thanks to Anca.

Imperial Castle, Poznań

The Imperial Castle in Poznań, popularly called Zamek, was constructed in 1910 for William II, German Emperor. Since its completion, the building has housed government offices of Germany and Poland (as of 1945). The castle was built in Neo-Romanesque style. Thanks to Kasia.

Santiago de Compostela, Spain

Santiago is the capital of the autonomous community of Galicia. The city has its origin in the shrine of Saint James the Great. The Cathedral was completed in 1211. In 1985 the city’s Old Town was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thanks to Isa.
