Greetings from Novi Sad, Serbia

Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia, and is the administrative seat of the northern province of Vojvodina. It has a population of approx. 230 000. The city was founded in 1694 when Serb mechants formed a colony across the Danube from the Petrovaradin fortress. Much of the city was devastated in the 1848 Revolution, but was later restored. Today Novi Sad is an industrial and financial center of the Serbian economy.
